Timber work, done the way it should be.

A timber deck under a shade sail next to a paling fence and lawn

One trade, taken seriously.

Ben runs B.S Carpentry Services with a small team, and the work covers most of what a house asks of a chippy: decks and pool surrounds, pergolas and patio covers, fences and gates, stairs and balustrades, framing, and the unglamorous repair work on old timber that keeps a place standing.

The reason customers keep naming the same three things is that they are the things Ben cares about: a competitive quote, communication the whole way through, and a finish worth looking at. Jobs run from a single afternoon of odd jobs to a full deck rebuild.

What you can count on.

A price you can plan around

Competitive quotes, worked out before anything starts, so you know what the job costs rather than finding out afterwards.

Communication all the way through

You are told what is happening and when. If something changes on site, you hear about it from Ben rather than working it out yourself.

Finished, not nearly finished

Anything not right gets fixed on the spot. The job is done when it is genuinely done, and the site is left clean.

A spirit level held against a post beside stacked timber on a work site

Set out right, before anything is fixed down.

Most of what separates a deck that lasts from one that does not happens before a single board is laid: post depth, bearer spans, joist spacing, fall and drainage. It is slower at the start and it is the reason the finish looks the way it does.

How a job actually runs.

01

Tell Ben the job

Send photos and rough sizes, or ask for an online estimate. You get a competitive quote back with the scope written down.

02

Set out and prep

Levels taken, posts and footings sorted, old or damaged timber pulled up and assessed before anything new goes on.

03

Build it

Frame, fix and finish, with the odd jobs picked up along the way while the team is already there.

04

Walk it through

You look over the finished work with Ben. Anything you are not happy with gets sorted before the team leaves.
